Accreditation

NBVMA:

The Valley Veterinary Hospital has been designated a fully accredited hospital by the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association.

AAHA:

In addition to the NBVMA accreditation, we have chosen to go one step further to demonstrate our dedication to excellence. The American Animal Hospital Association is highly regarded throughout the veterinary profession for their commitment to optimum standards that apply not only to facilities and medical records, but also to delivery of medical care to our patients. The AAHA has been certifying hospitals throughout North America that meet their high standards of veterinary practice for over 50 years. There are three (3) levels of certification and we are proud to have achieve the highest level possible.

Examination Room

We have two examination rooms for the preliminary evaluation of your pet.

Should further testing be required our laboratory is used for blood, urine and fecal analysis. We have a blood chemistry analyzer which provides quick and accurate results for our patients. This enables us to provide rapid on-site diagnosis any time.

An ECG is also available for Cardiac evaluation. Any results that we cannot perform in the hospital are sent to outside laboratories.

Medical Records

Medical records are the foundation of the continuity in health care. Your pet's medical records are updated and maintained on a computerized system which provides a high degree of accuracy and accessibility. A printout of your pet's medical record is available on request. In addition we have computer programs for drug referencing, medical diagnosing support and access to current veterinary literature.

Treatment Rooms

This is where hospitalized patients are routinely examined and medicated. This is also where patients are prepared for surgery.

All our injectable medications are within easy reach.

Radiology

Diagnostic imaging of soft tissue and bone can provide critical information necessary for an accurate diagnosis of your pet. In order to provide high quality radiographs, we have a high-powered x-ray unit and an automatic film processor, capable of developing radiographs quickly.

Dental Care

Veterinary dentistry is one of the most rapidly advancing fields in veterinary medicine. Consequently our staff have taken extensive training programs and we have set up a dental care facility complete with high speed drills, polisher, ultrasonic dental scalers and numerous periodontal instruments.

Routine dental cleaning is important for preventative health care. This is where we also do endoscopy which is a camera on a flexible rod we use to scope your pets stomach, airway or colon if necessary.

Surgery

Surgery is an integral part of our practice and is performed under aseptic conditions similar to those in a human hospital.

Modern anesthetic equipment and close patient monitoring ensure the safest and most comfortable anesthesia for our patients. In our surgery room we have up to date anesthetic monitoring equipment that helps our veterinary technicians monitor our patients accurately. During anesthesia, a veterinarian and a technician are always with your pet. Your pet's heart rate and blood oxygen levels will be monitored with our pulsoximeter. We use our blood pressure monitor on all of our anesthetized patients which allows us to use lower levels of gas anesthetic and keep your pet safer. We have an electrocardiogram and a defibrillator present in our surgery at all times in case their use becomes necessary. A veterinary technician also continually monitors anesthetic depth and stays with your pet during and after surgery. Each animal is placed on a warm water circulating blanket in surgery which helps maintain normal body temperature.

Possible surgeries performed range from routine spays and neuters, to more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.

Kennel (Front)

Our kennel is uniquely designed so that all patients can be observed from our treatment area. Nursing care is a high priority and qualified personnel are available to ensure comfort. Each patient is given a blanket and after surgery they receive a hot water bottle to keep them comfortable. When you leave your pets with us you can be sure that they are well cared for.

Kennel (Back)

These are our large dog comfort rooms. The floors are coated for cleanliness and good footing.

Reception

Please enjoy our comfortable reception area. We have people and pet friendly couches for seating and a beautifully landscaped yard for a view.

Our reception staff will do their best to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
